Spices are an important part of my cooking. I've had a few questions about my spice stash - yes, it's extensive. In addition, I always have herbs on the bench, or in the kitchen garden in the summer. The beautiful spice rack of 80 x 100 cm has been carved by my boyfriend. It is painted in the same color as our kitchen decor.
Of course, you don't need that many spices to cook, but I buy a lot of spices in Asian shops, which sell most of them much cheaper than they do in the Norwegian chain stores.
A few years ago, when we discovered the wonderful North African food culture, we ordered spices from England. It obviously looked like questionable powder and was opened by the Customs, on the way home to us. Fortunately, it has become easier now and we get most of it in Norway.
