Burning love is a dish from the 80s, which I had almost forgotten. I was looking through old cookbooks and thought it was time to pull it out of oblivion.
The mashed potatoes:
Peel and boil potatoes until tender. Drain the water, mash the potatoes and add butter and cream or milk. Stir it together and season with salt and pepper. It also tastes good with finely chopped chives or spring onions.
The meat:
1 finely chopped onion
1 clove finely chopped garlic
500 g chop or minced meat
1 box chopped tomatoes (preferably Mutti)
2 tbsp tomato puree
1 bay leaf
2 ts salt
1 ts oregano
2 teaspoons basil
1 ts pepper
200 g fox cheese of your choice
Brown the patty dough together with onion and garlic in butter or oil. Add chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, bay leaf, oregano, basil, salt and pepper. Let it boil for a minimum of 30 minutes. Pour the meat mixture into an ovenproof dish, spread the mashed potatoes out and sprinkle cheese on top.
Bake burning love in the middle of the oven at 200 degrees, for approx. 30 minutes, until the cheese has acquired a nice colour. I serve burning love with a fresh salad.
