I can not say that this dish is wonderful, but it really is one of the great favorites of my childhood. Grandma filled the whole frying pan and we ate like horses. As an adult, I think it is best suited as food for children, but having said that, there is absolutely no distaste for it.
Cook spaghetti according to the instructions on the package, minus 2 minutes during the cooking time. Pour off the water, add finely chopped onion and ketchup and stir well. Pour the mixture into an ovenproof dish, sprinkle well with grated cheese, or slices of cheese and put it in the oven at 200 degrees, until the cheese is golden.
While the pasta is in the oven, brown well with pieces of bacon in butter in the frying pan. Once the pasta is taken out of the oven, the bacon, including the frying fat, is poured over, and then it is ready to serve.
The dish could certainly have been made both better and healthier, with a little salad and a little better sauce than ketchup, but I am tempted to say yummy anyway.
