Spice syrup

Spice syrup can be used in drinks, both with and without alcohol and goes well as a sauce over desserts. The recipe yields about 2 dl of finished syrup.

1 dl water

2.5 dl sugar

4 whole black peppercorns

1 cinnamon stick

2 whole cloves

1 star anise

1 strip of orange peel

Mix everything in a saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Strain the spices and shells and store in an airtight container. Spice syrup will last for up to 1 month.
