Ireland's food traditions are all about filling the stomach. Guinness brown bread, Irish stew, scones, soda bread and pretty much anything with a potato in it is common. Irish breakfast is hearty and consists of fried egg, bacon, tomato beans, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, bread, farls (potato cakes) sausages and not least blood sausage.
Irish champ (mashed potatoes) and Irish stew are perhaps the most famous dishes from Ireland. Boxty is served as leftovers and a dumpling, made from grated potatoes and boiled potatoes after dinner, it is filled with meat and served with brown sauce. The Irish also eat a lot of food from the sea, e.g. irish seafood chowder, which is shellfish and smoked fish, cooked in cream.
