Mai Tai hails from Oakland, California and was invented by Victor Bergeron. The story goes that the first guest to taste it said, "Maita'i roa ae!" which means "the very best" or "of another world" in Tahitian, hence the name.
2 cl white rum
2 cl run rom
1 cl grenadine
2 cl cointreau
1 cl almond syrup
The juice of 1/2 lemon
Shake all the ingredients together with ice cubes in a drink mixer and strain the long drink glass with ice in it. Decorate to your liking and for Mai Tai, the decorations can feel free to take a bit off.
