We often make orange chicken in the summer, as it needs to be deep-fried, so we can do it in the outdoor kitchen and release the smell inside. It tastes so lovely that we make it for the rest of the year too. This recipe is suitable for 4 people.
9.5 dl wheat flour
1 ss salt
1 ts pepper
2 dl maismel
1 egg
3.5 dl water
2 tablespoons neutral oil
The chicken is divided into cubes. Mix the rest of the ingredients and add the chicken and let it rest for 30 minutes. Heat frying oil and add a little and a little of the chicken. Fry until it gets a nice golden color.
Sauce:
2 tablespoons neutral oil
1 teaspoon fresh, ground ginger
2 tablespoons garlic
1 dl sugar
1 dl brown sugar
1/2 ts chiliflak
1 dl orange juice
1 dl vinegar
4 tbsp soy sauce
4 tablespoons water + 4 tablespoons cornmeal for thickening
Mix all the ingredients (except the thickening) of the sauce in a sauté pan or saucepan. Let it boil for a few minutes, before stirring the thickener together and adding while stirring. Let it cook for a few more minutes, before adding the chicken.
Serve orange chicken with rice or noodles and a delicious salad.
