Medister cakes belong to Christmas, along with ribs, Medister sausages and sausages. I always make the medister cakes for Sunday dinner well before Christmas and freeze the rest, so it doesn't get too hectic in the rush of Christmas preparations. This recipe is suitable for 8 people:
1 kg medister dough
3 ts salt
5 tablespoons potato flour
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1,5 ts pepper
1 teaspoon malt nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground ginger
5 dl milk
4 tablespoons butter for frying
Knead together all the ingredients for the medister cakes, except the butter. I always bake a test cake, to make sure I'm happy with the taste.
Form into balls and fry them on both sides in butter. I don't cook them so dark, because I put them together with the ribs towards the end of the cooking time and then they get more colour.
