Walnut bread tastes very good. This recipe gives a juicy bread with a crunchy crispy crust. I use it as an accessory for e.g. always soups and makes it for Christmas breakfast. Here I have made a round variant, but you can also make them oblong, braided or as walnut rolls. You can freeze them and pick them up when you use them.
50 g yeast
1 tablespoon honey
6 dl lukewarm water
1 ts salt
15 dl wheat flour
200 g chopped walnuts
Knead everything well together. Cover the bowl and let the dough rise for a minimum of 1 hour, preferably longer. Beat the dough down and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
Divide the dough into 2 and form 2 loaves in an optional shape. I have chosen to make them round. Let the walnut breads rise for 1 hour, before baking them on baking paper in the oven at 200 degrees for approx. 30 minutes. The walnut bread is finished when you get a hollow sound when you tap with a finger on the underside of the bread.
