Steam buns – Gua bao with beef is one of my favorite dishes these days. You can make steam buns yourself, but you can also find them in the freezer counter, so you can just heat them.
800 g beef in strips
4 tablespoons honey
5 tablespoons soy sauce
4 tablespoons water
1.5 tablespoons of sesame oil
1/2 ts pepper
4 cloves finely chopped garlic
2 onions in strips
2 peppers in strips
coriander
Make marinade, by mixing honey, soy sauce, water, sesame oil, pepper and garlic. Add the meat and onion and let it marinate for a minimum of 1 hour, but preferably overnight.
Brown the meat mixture in neutral oil and add the peppers at the very end, so it just gets hot. Serve with steam buns, heated in steam boiler and coriander.
